Images from CETL Wolfson Reward ProgrammesRLO-CETL supports community development of learning objects, learning designs, evaluation tools and much more. Community development and sustainability is at the heart of all our RLO-CETL activities; we rely on the direct engagement of our communities of academics, developers and students to help us achieve our wide-ranging and ambitious objectives and we facilitate them to work in multi-disciplinary teams to create and critique shareable content, designs and processes. Reward is an important mechanism in this and we have pioneered a unique Reward and Development Programme, the 'Wolfson Reward Progarmme (WRP)' for our participants but there are also workshops, meetings, working groups, outreach and dissemination events – community engagement is seen as an ongoing and productive process. Our communities are democratic; students work as peers with staff and often the teacher/pupil relationship is reversed as learners contribute their insights to the learning designs and specifications generated in the workshops.

We are expanding the Wolfson Reward Programme to include colleagues from other institutions. The University of Ulster, through their CETL in Institutional E-Learning Services has set up a comprehensive Reward and Recognition Scheme for its own staff based on the WRP, holding four two-day events over an 18-month period. At Thames Valley University, a series of workshops "Are your modules GLO-ing yet?" will be launched in the autumn and Leeds Metropolitan University is holding a two-day staff development event in September on the theme of 'Coaching for Learning'. All these events are facilitated by RLO-CETL staff.

So, if you are interested in participating or just finding out more, contact Dawn Leeder.

The Wolfson Reward Programme is open to academics, students and developers. It provides an immersive and intensive residential experience designed to get participants thinking about appropriate educational content and to help organise their materials and expertise in formats suitable for RLO or GLO development.

To achieve this we offer support in many forms: tools, templates and methods, a creative blend of workshops, hands-on participant activities, rapid iterative development working closely with a CETL multimedia developer, an evaluation toolkit plus great opportunities for networking and sharing ideas and experiences. Couple this with a fabulous social programme and we think the results are really rewarding!

The programme is also providing opportunities for the accreditation of continuing and professional development through master classes and a route to become a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology.

In 2009 we are planning to launch an ambitious international e-Learning Fellowship programme for senior academics, technical and support staff in higher education institutions worldwide.
